Brian Ott studied Zen Buddhism and moved to Japan, where he fell in love with the Eastern aesthetic and its approach to design
He has been designing and building gardens in the Bay Area for over 20 years
The most rewarding aspect of his work is when clients share their own joy in being outside, playing in their garden
Brian and his family moved to Marin in 2013, yet he continues to do a majority of his work in San Francisco & Marin
Space is an important aspect of Zen design philosophy: using timeless elements such as rock, wood & water to create vibrant & enduring gardens
Environmental responsibility is valued - local, green & sustainable materials are used whenever possible; drought tolerant plantings are stressed due to changing climate
Enjoys including small edible garden wherever possible
