Opened in 1971 as the People’s Free Clinic, staffed by volunteers
Awarded federal status of Healthcare for Homeless Program grantee in 1989
Designated Vermont's second Federally Qualified Health Center with additional support and services such as social work and financial assistance
Created 10,000 square foot flagship main facility on Riverside Avenue in 2001
Opened Pearl Street Youth Health Center in 2004 - Vermont's only medical site designed for homeless and at risk youth
Expanded Safe Harbor Health Center to a new two exam room facility offering primary and preventive health care, dental care, mental health and substance abuse counseling & Housing First program for homeless patients with chronic medical conditions
Dental program incorporated into main CHCB site serving almost 8,000 patients including 800 uninsured/low income children at School Based Dental Center
Riverside Health Center opened 2012 allowing more patient access; integrated psychiatry & counseling treatment assistance for drug/alcohol use disorders
